My Origin Story
What if a shoebox, a few cockroach eggs, and a curious child could spark a lifelong journey into science?
In this TEDx talk, I share how my story began—with a question no one would answer, and a belief that science wasn’t meant for someone like me. But I’ve learned:
No one gets to define my story—I do.
From the South Bronx to research expeditions, and now, hopefully, toward a space research mission this journey is mine. It’s powered by the same unstoppable curiosity that sparked it all.
Watch below to see how curiosity became my superpower.

I’m Officially a STEAM Superhero!
The STEAM Superheroes comic book officially launched and I’m honored to be featured as one of the superheroes reimagining what scientists, educators, and changemakers really look like.
This project redefines representation by turning real-life heroes in STEM and STEAM into characters young people can see, connect with, and be inspired by.
Yes, I’m now a superhero named Ideal and this comic is just the beginning.
I am honored to be named to the 2024 class of The Explorers Club 50; Fifty People Changing the World that the World Needs to Know About. Each year, the EC50 recognizes fifty extraordinary people who are doing remarkable work to promote science and exploration, but remain under the radar and out of the limelight. My fellow honorees are exploring, inspiring, and creating the future—the future of the planet, life upon it, and the boundless possibilities that await us all. I am so excited to be part of these visionary community.
